My Thoughts On This BOok/Connections
Bullying is a huge message in this story, and so is "thinking before you do".I find that both of these messages are really powerful, and the message was delivered throughout the book.
There are many teens and kids out there with so much in mind, thinking about suicide. They don’t keep in mind that one decision can not only affect their life, but others’ too. Sandy Hook elementary school shooting: This story reminded me of the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in 2012. In Western Connecticut 26 people died when a gunman rampaged into Sandy hook elementary school. The gunman fatally shot innocent beautiful little children ages 6-7, and 6 adults. After 5 minutes or so, the gunman shot himself as well. This event left many traumatized students and staff, and devastated families. The gunman Adam Lanza age 20 was a troubled young man, and fell deep into a mental illness while his mother ignored his struggles… I related this book to this event because both stories had something to do with suicide and murder. I am also willing to bet that many families were affected as well. Both of the “gunmen” were both struggling in life and thought that murder, violence, and suicide was the answer. Yet, they weren't thinking about how it could affect their community, and others. It isn't necessary to push people to do this. That's why I think that people should really think before they do. If you're a bully, think about all the damage you can do in the future. I thought that this book was very powerful, and it was very entertaining to read. It really gives you a strong message, and you really get to connect with the emotions the characters go through. The book flows really well, and since it was written like it was a journal it was a very unique book. |
